Workshops

Saturday afternoon will have different workshops to help you walk out the basics of God’s heart and to have fun getting to know each other. You choose the workshops once you get to Avalanche.

Over the coming months the introductions to each workshop will be posted for you to read. We'll update them and add new ones all the time, so keep checking back.

The workshops start at 1:30pm and 3:30pm, roughly 50 minutes in length with a one hour break in between. Some workshops go the whole length of the afternoon.

Workshops will be posted from the middle of March onwards. See you then.

Laura Byron

A workshop for teens or adults interested in starting worship dance teams in their churches or already have teams and are interested in more information. Topics presented will cover dance history in the Bible, how to build the team, types of teams, simple dance exercises, props and costuming, dance ministry vs. personal worship, as well as a question and answer period at the end. There will be some movement so please wear comfortable clothing.

Guys welcome.

Workshop #2

Worship Dance

Laura Byron

A workshop for those of you that have a desire use dance to worship God but do not have a lot of dance experience. We want those whose "training ground" has been dancing in your rooms, your car, or the back corner of the church, to be brave and join together to step out in faith. This will be a time of sharing and creating as well as together learning a dance to be performed on Sunday night. There will be a sixteen person limit so come early and have comfortable, modest clothing. We can't wait to explore dance with you.

Guys welcome.

Workshop #3

Prophetic Art

Sarah Gagnon

Ken Light

God calls us to live outside the box. With school pressures, friends and other things, you may be more influenced by the world than you think. Come and see how to get outside the box but be inside His box.

Workshop #5

Masters Commission Drama Team

The purpose of the drama ministry is to paint pictures of the Gospel that will first and foremost save the lost, than edify the body... Each of these dramas shows the freedom and hope we can receive through the Power of Jesus Christ. Just as Jesus spoke in parables, we desire to reveal the Gospel through skits, human videos and dramas. These tool effective reach this visual generation whom are lost and hurting.

Workshop #6

Volleyball, Soccer & Basketball

We will be setting up some games of volleyball, basketball and soccer if the weather is good. This will give people a chance to stretch their legs and worship God with their bodies.

Workshop #7

Dream Interpretation

You spend one third of your life sleeping. We want you to unlock the mysteries that are being spoken to you in your dreams. In this interactive workshop we hope to give you a basic understanding of your dreams and interpret the ones you have had.

Workshop #8

The Reverse Mission

Jesus commands us to go in His name, walk in His love and give away what we have received. We think that we are the ones that are bringing "the answers" to a lost and dying world. We are going to bring Jesus to "them" and they are going to receive what we have to say. We are not the great white hope! The "Reverse Mission" is that we go and are met with the presence of Jesus in the least of these that we are going to minister to. We learn that they are people just like us and have the same need to be loved, nurtured and respected.

Workshop #9

A Question of Origins - The Creation/Evolution Debate

Greg Rutherford

This introductory session deals with how evolutionary dogma has permeated our Churches and society. Questions of relevancy for Christians regarding the creation/evolution debate are examined. The seminar concludes with a look at how preconceptions and biases can influence the way in which scientific evidence is interpreted.

Workshop #10

How to Train you Parents

the Pauls Family

How To Train Your Parents... keeping conversations going; asking parents to stay engaged until you feel like you've been understood. Inviting them into discussions about core issues rather than simply asking for 'permission'. What to do when you don't feel heard; getting your parents to spend the time you need for closure.

Pauls family have 7 unique individuals; dad, mom and 5 children, ages 10 to 20 years old. They love being a family through the fun and the difficulties of life together whether watching movies, pitching in with the chores, making hard choices together or vigorous dinner time conversation.
